The mission of Mothers of Color Awareness Initiative is to provide the foundation for solidarity amongst women of color, children of color and our families. We celebrate and explore our cultural diversity and heritage through playgroups, socials, and community outreach. Our aim is to nurture, educate, and create a healthy life while maintaining a positive image of ourselves and an environment where our children can flourish.
Upcoming Events
Color Play
Sunday, June 27th 12:00-3:00pm
We will wrap up our 2009-10 program year with a picnic at The Children's Equitation Center.
Color Play is our monthly social and craft for families raising children of color. Occurring every third Saturday (September to June) 10am–12pm, this free playgroup is for all children of color and their families. Transracial adoptees, foster care, and LGBTQA families are strongly encouraged to join us.
Color Play supports parents by addressing the cultural imbalances of their children’s community, encouraging self-acceptance and identity awareness. This group will provide parents with the opportunity to have open dialogue around the many concerns of parenting children of color. This program includes a story hour, healthy snack, and seasonal craft as well as fun interactive parent-child connecting in a diverse setting.
