Women’s Circle
Women’s Circle is our free, bi-weekly (every 2nd & 4th Tuesday) drop-in circle for all women of color 21 and over or parent of any age. This group provides a safe space of mutual respect and non-judgment – a place where we can support each other and build community as we navigate the richness and complexity of our lives. Circle activities range from dialogue and journaling to art healing projects and culturally rich outings. Every 2nd Tuesday we welcome our on-going guest facilitator Rose Sackey-Milligan. Free childcare is provided upon request. Carpooling also available upon request. Now held at our new location the Mt Toby Quaker Meetinghouse, Leverett, MA.
Color Play
Color Play is our social and craft for families raising children of color. Occurring every third Saturday (September to June) 10am–12pm, this free event is for children of color and all members of their families. Transracial adoptees, foster care, and LGBTQA families are strongly encouraged to join us. Color Play supports parents by addressing the cultural imbalances of our children’s community, encouraging self-acceptance and identity awareness. This group provides parents with the opportunity to have open dialogue around the many concerns of parenting children of color.
The Pony Show
The Children’s Equitation Center (CEC) is a non profit organization based in the hilltowns of Western MA (Ashfield) that focuses on encouraging, stimulating, and supporting the involvement of children of color in the world of equestrian sports. Families who come to us with and without experience in equestrian sports activities come because they are clear that they want a multicultural environment for their animal loving children. We offer a special place for your children to bond, play, and train with horses and ponies. We are focused on celebrating diversity while connecting children of color on this small horse farm. In addition, we take great pride in our ability to encourage our youngsters to have a pioneering spirit as we promote and discuss a more inclusive atmosphere in the equestrian world. CEC kids develop courage, focus, and self-confidence through our programs.
The Pony Show program will serve as a gentle introduction to horses and ponies while providing a supportive family atmosphere with plenty of love and kindness. Our home base is a rural horse farm – rugged and beautiful in a very natural way. We interweave work with animals, learning to ride and play in a responsible way. It is a unique environment for children and they often experience a tremendous sense of personal growth. It is also an intimate horse farm designed to provide a meaningful place for family members who want to be involved. We encourage you to take the time to get to know us and to use the farm as a place for rest, bonding and relaxation.
